Hi, I’m Lucy and I’m so glad that you’ve found you’re way to my wee Scottish travel blog!
I’m a Scottish lass who was born and grew up in a small seaside village in East Lothian, not too far from Edinburgh.
I feel very lucky as Edinburgh is, in my opinion, the most magical city in not just Scotland, but the whole of Europe! A big claim, I know, but one I fully belive!
I also like to think I’ve found a good balance in life. A balance that involves seeking adventure, nature, and the crisp Highland air, just as much as a cute coffee shop where I can get lost in my kindle, plan more travels with my partner Sam, or just have a good social media scroll!
Why I Started Lucy In Scotland
Lucy In Scotland was born from a simple reason which you’ve probably already guessed: a love of exploring this magical country that I call home. From the heart of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile to quaint little fishing villages in Fife and Moray, and everywhere in between, Scotland has captured me in her grasp, as she’s done with so many others before me!
And I decided that I wanted to turn this passion into something with a greater purpose, a place where I could help others like you get the most out their trip to Scotland.
So, I got to work carefully crafting travel guides that I believe are genuinly useful, all based on my first-hand experiences, as I travel and discover more of Scotland’s beauty and deep-rooted historic character.
However, this love for exploring and writing about Scotland didn’t arise in the fairytale you might be imagining, the one where local lass grows up wearing tartan skirts, listening to pipe bands, and climbing Munros at the weekend.
Sure, my childhood in Scotland was great, but my curiosity of far-flung places and exotic experiences was greater, and lead me to living in Australia for a year and to visiting over 50 countries around the world.
The real fondness for Scotland and inspiration for Lucy In Scotland ignighted during the Covid 19 Pandemic, when I travelled around Scotland more in one year than I had done in my whole life leading up to it!
And it’s only continued to grow since then, and here I am, capturing the best and unassuming places in Scotland to share with you!
Why You Can Trust Me
Yes, I’ve lived most of my life in Scotland, but I’m not going to sit here and claim to be a Scotland expert who knows everything just because I’m from here.
But you can trust that I’ve personally visited all of the places that I’ve written about and all of the thoughts, opinions, and personality I express are my own. I know travel bloggers can get a reputation for being over-positive and sensationalising places, but I’m not afraid to say when I’m let down or disappointed by somewhere, or letting you know when I think something isn’t worth it!
Every single photograph on the blog has also been taken by me, or my partner Sam (under strict instructions), so you can see exactly what I’ve seen.
I’m also not saying that everyone will agree with me on everything, but that’s the beauty of a human voice in the world of AI, I’m a real person with real experience and real opinions that you can take on board to help you make your own judgements!
The authentic voice of Lucy In Scotland is one of the core foundations that I’ll never budge on, and the experience that you, and my other readers, have both when reading my blog and when actually in Scotland are at the forefront of my thoughts and priorities when I hit publish on every article.
I also update my articles regularly and do my upmost to keep all information reliable and up to date.
